Project “RITU” – Dignity with Every Flow

“RITU” is a compassionate health awareness initiative by after 10, an NGO dedicated to supporting underprivileged students through education and care. With this project, we aim to address one of the most sensitive yet significant aspects of a young girl’s life — menstrual health and hygiene.

Menstruation is a natural process, yet it continues to be surrounded by silence, shame, and misinformation, especially among young girls from marginalized communities. Through Project RITU, we wish to change that mindset by fostering awareness, confidence, and respect.

Our slogan, “Don’t be silent, be aware”, reflects our mission to encourage open discussion and to break the taboos around menstruation. Alongside, our belief in “Dignity with Every Flow” highlights the importance of ensuring that every girl experiences her menstrual cycle with self-respect, comfort, and pride.

Under this initiative, after 10 will conduct regular menstrual hygiene awareness sessions for girl students from Class V to Class X at our free coaching centre. These sessions will cover topics such as understanding the menstrual cycle, maintaining hygiene, managing emotions, and debunking common myths.

In addition to education, we are committed to action. Every month, free sanitary napkins will be distributed to all our girl students to ensure that no girl has to miss school or feel embarrassed due to the lack of access to basic menstrual hygiene products.

At after 10, we believe that true empowerment begins with awareness and dignity. Through Project RITU, we strive to build a world where every girl can speak freely about her body, take charge of her health, and grow with confidence — because every girl deserves dignity with every flow.

Winter Clothes Distribution Drive – A Warm Initiative by “after 10”

On 18th October 2025, our social organization “after 10” organized a Clothes Distribution Drive in the remote villages of Purulia district, West Bengal. The purpose of this initiative was to extend a helping hand to the underprivileged families living in extreme poverty, who lack access to basic necessities such as proper clothing, healthcare, education, and livelihood opportunities.

With the generous contributions of the kind-hearted residents of New Barrackpur, we collected a large number of woollen garments, new clothes, and gently used clothes. These were carefully sorted and distributed among the needy residents of seven villages in Purulia.

In total, around 1,300 villagers, including children, women, and elderly people, received clothing during this drive. The joy and gratitude on their faces were truly heartwarming. For many, it was the first time they had owned proper woollen wear to protect themselves from the upcoming winter chill. For the little children, receiving new clothes brought smiles that spoke volumes about the impact of small acts of kindness.

These villages remain deprived of basic infrastructure — poor road connectivity, limited access to schools and healthcare, and almost no stable occupation sources. Amidst such challenging living conditions, this initiative by “after 10” was a small effort to bring warmth, comfort, and dignity to their lives.

We sincerely thank all the donors from New Barrackpur whose compassion and trust made this event possible. Their contributions helped us reach hundreds of families and reaffirmed our belief that collective effort can bring meaningful change.

At “after 10”, we remain committed to supporting the underprivileged sections of society through continuous social welfare initiatives. This winter clothes distribution program marks another step in our journey of spreading hope, warmth, and humanity

Sit & Draw Competition-2025

At after 10, we strongly believe that every child carries within them a world of imagination and creativity that deserves to be nurtured. With this vision, we have been organizing our annual Sit and Draw Competition for the last four years, providing a vibrant platform for children to express their artistic skills, explore their creativity, and celebrate the joy of learning beyond classrooms.

On 21st September 2025, we proudly hosted this year’s competition at Krishti Auditorium, New Barrackpur, where the response was truly overwhelming. With nearly 1,600 young participants, the event has grown to become the largest sit and draw competition in the area, a matter of pride not only for us but also for the entire community. Children from different age groups came together, their colors and brushes filling the auditorium with imagination, joy, and energy.

What began as a humble initiative has now transformed into a much-awaited annual cultural event, drawing participation from hundreds of families and establishing itself as a symbol of community bonding. The competition not only highlights the incredible talents of our young generation but also instils values of confidence, discipline, and healthy participation.

At after 10, our mission goes beyond providing services—we are committed to fostering creativity, culture, and togetherness in New Barrackpur. The Sit and Draw Competition stands as a testament to this commitment, and we look forward to nurturing more young talents in the years to come.

A New AC Hearse Van ---- Our Community Service

At after 10, we have always believed that true service lies in standing beside people during their most difficult times. Since our inception in 2020, we have been extending our support to the residents of New Barrackpur by providing affordable ambulance and hearse van services. Our aim is to ensure that emergency medical transport and dignified last journey services are within the reach of every family, regardless of their financial condition.

Over the years, we have gradually expanded our fleet to meet the growing needs of the community. At present, our services include:

  • • Two ambulances – one AC and one non-AC, for timely medical assistance and patient transport.
  • • Two hearse vans – one AC and one non-AC, for ensuring dignity and respect in the final journey.

On 14th September 2025, we proudly inaugurated our new AC hearse van, a much-needed facility for the people of New Barrackpur. This service is available 24 hours a day at a fair and affordable price, so that no family has to face additional hardship during moments of grief.

Through these initiatives, after 10 has become a trusted name in community service. We remain committed to expanding our efforts and continuing to stand beside people with compassion, dignity, and reliability.

Voluntary Blood Donation Camp—after 10

At after 10, we believe that there is no greater service to humanity than saving a life. With this spirit, on 14th September 2025, we organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at New Barrackpur, open to all sections of the community. The event received an encouraging response, with nearly 60 selfless donors coming forward to contribute their invaluable blood.

Each donor’s act was not just a medical contribution but also a gesture of compassion, humanity, and solidarity. Their cheerful smiles and sense of fulfillment after donation were the greatest return gift for us, reminding us once again why such initiatives matter deeply to the community.

The entire collected blood was donated to the Barasat Cancer Research Centre, where it will play a crucial role in addressing the shortage of blood supply and supporting patients in critical need. In doing so, our donors have directly contributed to giving hope, extending lives, and easing the struggles of families battling cancer.

This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to stand beside the common people—not just in times of emergency, but also in proactive efforts that strengthen healthcare and community well-being. At after 10, we remain dedicated to organizing more such initiatives where the spirit of volunteerism, compassion, and collective responsibility can bring about meaningful change.

Free Dress Distribution to APU & DURGA

At after 10, we believe that festivals are meant to bring joy to every heart, especially the hearts of children. On 21st September 2025, we had the privilege of organizing the “Free Dress Distribution to APU & DURGA” program for the underprivileged children of New Barrackpur—a day filled with excitement, laughter, and celebration.

Nearly 300 children gathered, their eyes sparkling with curiosity and anticipation. As our volunteers handed out the new clothes, the auditorium was filled with smiles, cheers, and joyful chatter. For many children, these new outfits meant more than just clothing—they symbolized care, inclusion, and the chance to celebrate Durga Puja with pride and happiness.

What made the day truly unforgettable were the radiant smiles on the children’s faces, their excitement echoing the spirit of giving. Their joy became the most precious gift for our team at after 10, reaffirming why we are committed to these community-driven initiatives.

Through this program, we aim not only to provide material support but also to nurture confidence, dignity, and happiness among the children of our community. At after 10, we continue our mission to bring hope, joy, and togetherness, ensuring that no child is left behind during the festivals that light up our lives.
